چکیده
discussion children with congenital heart disease are at risk of acquiring gram-negative endocarditis even if they have not had other predisposing factors. case presentation in this study a ten-year-old boy with ventricular septal defect, who was not immune compromised and acquired klebsiella endocarditis is introduced. the patient had a favorable response to medical treatment and underwent a successful cardiac surgery. introduction gram negative bacteria including klebsiella species are a rare cause of bacterial endocarditis in children. klebsiella endocarditis usually needs a predisposing factor and has a poor prognosis.

Topical drops of corticosteroids commonly applied during cataract surgery for intraocular lens implantation penetrate ocular structures. An alternative hypothesis is that corticosteroids applied during ocular surgery reactivate a latent ocular infection. Our r...

The continuing emergence of infections due to multidrug resistant bacteria is a serious public health problem. Klebsiella pneumoniae, which commonly acquires resistance encoded on mobile genetic elements, including ones that encode carbapenemases, is a prime example. K. pneumoniae carrying such genetic material, including both blaKPC and genes encoding metallo-β-lactamases, have spread globally...

Multidrug resistance associated with extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) and Klebsiella pneumoniae carbapenemase (KPC) among K. pneumoniae is endemic in southern Europe. We retrospectively analyzed the impact of resistance on the appropriateness of empirical therapy and treatment outcomes of K. pneumoniae bloodstream infections (BSIs) during a 2-year period at a 1420-bed tertiary-care teach...
متن کاملHypervirulent Klebsiella pneumoniae
Hypervirulent strains of Klebsiella pneumoniae are associated with abscess formation, commonly hepatic, and metastatic spread, even in healthy patients. We describe a case of this clinical syndrome, genotypic and phenotypic features of the isolate, and briefly review epidemiology, clinical manifestations, and pathogenesis of this underappreciated syndrome.
